ALL-SIS Announces Changes for 2008 Annual Meeting

DianeMurley | January 09, 2008 13:21

Based upon responses to a recent ALL-SIS survey on sponsorship for ALL-SIS events, ALL-SIS will implement some changes to its regular programming for the upcoming annual meeting in Portland.

First, ALL-SIS will forgo all vendor sponsorship for the 2008 annual meeting. This action aims to help ALL-SIS become more self-sufficient and to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.

Second, times and/or dates of events have been changed to accommodate the tighter schedules of the now condensed annual meeting and to make sponsorship less critical. The changes are as follows:

  1. The Middle Mangers' event, traditionally held as a breakfast, will now be scheduled as a late afternoon substantive forum on Saturday.
  2. The Business meeting will be combined with the Reception and Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening. The first 30 minutes (approximately) will be spent on business and awards, after which the usual reception will follow. ALL-SIS will provide food in the form of appetizers and desserts, and there will be a cash bar. This Business Meeting, Reception and Awards event will be held at the headquarters hotel instead of at a local library.

These changes are not necessarily permanent. The ALL-SIS Board will assess each event during the annual meeting and will solicit comments after the annual meeting is concluded. The Board also will continue to monitor member opinion and reaction to the changes over the next year to see if there are additional improvements or changes that need to be made. The Board encourages members to share their thoughts or concerns about these changes.
